Compound profile

Silicone (VMQ) offers an exceptionally wide operating temperature range, excellent electrical insulation, and FDA/USP Class VI compliant grades for food, beverage and medical-device sealing. Mechanical strength is lower than most elastomers, so FITCO reserves silicone for static or low-pressure dynamic seals.

High-consistency rubber, general duty

Standard HCR silicone

Standard heat-cured, high-consistency silicone for general electronics, appliance and HVAC gasketing where FDA/medical certification isn't required.

USP Class VI, low extractables

Platinum-cured medical/FDA grade

Platinum-catalyzed cure system (rather than peroxide) avoids cure-byproduct residues, meeting USP Class VI and FDA food-contact requirements for pharmaceutical and food/beverage sealing.

Compression-molded, tight tolerance

HCR high-purity grade

A high-consistency rubber silicone formulated for tight-tolerance, high-purity parts via compression molding — FITCO's route to precision silicone components without requiring injection-molded LSR tooling.

FEP Encapsulated & PTFE Coated Silicone O-Rings

Standard Silicone O-rings cover most food, pharma and high-temperature applications. For the most chemically aggressive environments, FITCO also offers Silicone-cored FEP encapsulated O-rings and PTFE coated Silicone O-rings.

Maximum Chemical Resistance

FEP / PFA Encapsulated Silicone O-Rings

A seamless FEP or PFA fluoropolymer jacket over a Silicone elastomer core. The FEP jacket provides near-universal chemical resistance — resistant to virtually all acids, solvents and oxidisers that would degrade even FDA Silicone — while the Silicone core maintains elastic recovery and sealing force. This is the standard specification for:

  • Aggressive chemical processing where Silicone is chemically incompatible
  • CIP/SIP pharmaceutical systems with mixed cleaning agents
  • Semiconductor wet bench chemistry and ultra-pure fluid handling
  • Cryogenic service (FEP + Silicone core rated to −60°C)

Low Friction & Easy Assembly

PTFE Coated Silicone O-Rings

A thin PTFE coating applied over the FDA Silicone O-ring surface. The Silicone base provides all sealing chemistry and FDA compliance; the PTFE coating reduces assembly friction, prevents the O-ring from sticking to groove surfaces during extended static service, and provides a clean, non-extractable contact surface that meets food-grade requirements without additional assembly lubricant.
