Overview

Compound profile

Fluorosilicone (FVMQ) adds fluorocarbon side groups to the silicone (VMQ) backbone, closing standard silicone's biggest gap: fuel and mineral oil resistance. It keeps VMQ's wide temperature range and good compression set behavior while tolerating hydrocarbon exposure that would swell plain silicone — at a cost premium over VMQ, and still without VMQ's food/medical certification pathway in most grades.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
  • Aerospace and ground equipment fuel-system seals
  • Automotive fuel and emissions system seals where wide temperature range is also needed
  • Low-temperature seals with incidental oil/fuel exposure
  • Gaskets requiring both extreme temperature range and hydrocarbon resistance

Grade Reference

Fluorosilicone sub-grades & variants

Fluorosilicone isn't a single formulation — the grade below matters as much as the base compound once your application gets specific.

70 Shore A

Standard FVMQ 70

FITCO's standard fluorosilicone grade — the default unless a project specifies a different hardness or cure system.

Datasheet

Technical datasheets by hardness

Physical property data — hardness, tensile strength, elongation, compression set and temperature resistance — tested to ASTM/ISO standards for each hardness grade FITCO stocks.
